Davis is the lawyer that other lawyers call when they need advice! Probate is a legal procedure that transfers title to property when someone dies. Unless a deceased person has provided for transfer outside of probate (like a joint tenancy or a living trust), it is necessary to file a petition with the Superior Court and ask the court to decide who gets the property. If there's a Will, the Will designates a beneficiary. If there's no Will, the laws of California determine who one's heirs are. Trying to negotiate the probate courts and weaving your way through complicated forms requires a skilled and experienced probate lawyer. Alan D. Davis is a native of New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers -The State University with a BA in History. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a data systems technician, with expertise in computer and peripheral system repair. His last three years were spent on the USS Josephus Daniels, based in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his military service, Mr. Davis enrolled in Western State University School of Law in Fullerton, California, graduating in 1978. Upon admission to the bar in November of that year, he began a general practice of law, focusing on probate, wills, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships. He is a member of the California State Bar, the Orange County Bar (Probate and Estate Planning Section), and the United States District Court Bar for the Central District of California. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of the Rutgers Club of Southern California and was formerly its president. Mr. Davis taught probate law and procedure at Santa Ana College from 1981 to 2011. The book used by the course was written by Mr. Davis with students in mind. Our law office serves all of Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino, Ventura, Imperial, and Kern Counties.
